Privacy policy

In short

Your car remembers, you stay in control. Your location, plate number, VIN and original photos stay on your phone. We don't sell your data, and there are no ads, analytics or cookies. The app is currently in a closed family trial; this policy covers the app and this website.

What stays on your phone only

• Plate number and VIN.
• Location: stop detection runs on the phone, and the coordinates of your saved places never sync to another device.
• Original photos (invoices, tyres, oil bottles, odometer, registration and insurance).
• Names: they never reach the AI, our server or any third party.

What syncs through iCloud inside the household

Your data (cars, visits, costs, warranties) is stored in your own iCloud account (private database) and shared only with the family members you invite. The household name and member names travel inside the end-to-end-encrypted household zone. We run no server that stores your data and we cannot read it.

What the AI receives

When you ask the car assistant or request a photo reading, requests go through Dirkson's server (Cloudflare Workers) to Anthropic's Claude model. Only numbers and car facts are sent: make, model and year, odometer, and numbers and items from service and cost history. The server rejects any request containing a plate, VIN, name, coordinates, phone or ID number. Photos are read on the phone; if an image ever has to be sent for structuring, it is cropped and personal details are blacked out on the phone before upload. There is a monthly cap on AI usage. The server keeps no car or family data; it keeps only usage and cost counters and a random device identifier to limit requests. The AI never claims a diagnosis: it tells you what to check and who should check it.

Apple services

• WeatherKit: when the weather card is active, the car's current location is sent to Apple Weather to fetch the weather and visibility, and we do not store it.
• Apple Maps: finds nearby stations, car washes and workshops, and opens navigation.
• Speech to text: when you log a visit by voice, Apple converts your speech to text according to your phone's settings.

Apple's own policies apply to these.

Fuel prices

The server fetches Aramco's public fuel prices monthly. It sends no data about you.

What we don't do

• No analytics, tracking or advertising.
• We don't sell or share your data for marketing.
• No continuous location tracking.

This website

No cookies and no third-party scripts. Your theme choice (Safi / Layl / Tablon) is saved in your browser only. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page) for security.

Your control

• You can withdraw location, motion, camera and notification permissions in iPhone Settings at any time.
• Coming soon: exporting your data (CSV and Markdown), and deleting cars and visits from inside the app.
• To delete all app data, delete the app from your phone and from iCloud (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Dirkson).

Children

Dirkson is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data about them.
